The Project Coordinator (me) is able to Send/Receive an Internet based project.  The Assistant Translator has had problems doing a Send/Receive on the same Internet based project for the past month.  When he ran the Send/Receive, it would show that it was processing the request, but would never complete.  I had to shut it down either by turning off the computer or using Task Manager.  When I ran Advanced->Diagnostics->Verify project repositories..., I would get the ERROR copied at the end of this question.  It looks like the "Verify project repositories..." command would correct the issue since it would not show an error if I ran the "Verify project repositories..." a 2nd time.  However, once I run the Send/Receive from the Assistant Translator PC, I get the Verify project repositories error again.  I ran the ParatextForceShutdown command to see what might be causing the Send/Receive to hang.  I received the dialog box response, "Report was sent successfully, Your issue number is PTXS-40356".  Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Paratext on the Assistant Translator's PC?  How can I make sure that his changes for the past month aren't lost when uninstalling and reinstalling on his PC?

There was an issue with the Send/Receive server. It has been resolved now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Would you please try again and let us know if it is still not resolved? I believe you should receive an email from the Paratext support ticket.

Thanks,

James

Unfortunately, the issue is not resolved.  I did a Send/Receive from the Coordinator's desktop and it worked fine.  When I did a Send/Receive from the Assistant Translator's desktop, the Send/Receive would never finish and I had to use the Task Manager to shut down Paratext.  I suspect that the installation of Paratext on the Assistant Translator's desktop is corrupt.  I would like to uninstall and reinstall it, but I don't want to lose 3 weeks of editing done on that desktop.  Is there a way to uninstall and reinstall without losing those edits?
Sorry to hear the issue isn't resolved. I just meant that the issue on the Send/Receive (on our end) was resolved, which may have resolved the issue you were facing.

You can uninstall and reinstall Paratext on a computer without losing the work (translation project files are completely separate from the Paratext installation files). But in this case, it appears that there is an issue with the project history (the repository). That will probably involve:

1. Backing up the project the project on the Assistant Translator's computer.
2. Copying the backup file to a secure location.
3. Deleting the project on the Assistant Translator's computer.
4. Receiving the project again via Send/Receive.
5. Restoring edits from the backup files into the newly received project.

Did you get an email from Paratext Support? You can also follow up with them. Or with [email protected]. We can help you further that way. We can help you walk through this process if you'd like.
The issue was with one of the other translation projects that the Assistant Translator was no longer working on.  Once I removed that translation project from his desktop, the issue was resolved.  Thanks for your help in giving me appropriate steps to take.
