When exporting a portion of the Gospels from Paratext to PDF, Jesus words in red are not showing up in the file. It works when exporting it to RTF but not with PDF.

Since this issue seems to be Paratext specific and not related to Publishing Assistant, I have moved it out of the PA category.

What version of Paratext are you using anon523970? I did a quick test in PT [Phone Removed]and words marked up with \wj…\wj* were visible in Mat 1 for me. They were not printed in red in the PDF, but they were present in the text.

Right, IanH.

I just did a test with Paratext 9.1 and the most recent PTXPrint 1.9, in Mat 5 which contains many \wj…\wj*, and definitely, the problem seems to be linked to PTX, not PA.

I recently helped publish NTs with \wj…\wj*, and everything came out perfectly with the help of Publishing Assistant.

Did you check the PDF Export specifications?

Knowing that Scriptures (Mat->Rev) are generally printed in BW (Black and White), sometimes PDF Export specifications are also set to export in BW.

I am copying the Typesetting Community of Practice where there is more interest in such topics.

Blessings.

Thanks, can you tell me where do I find the PDF Export specifications?

You could try the new utility, PTXprint, available from software.sil.org/ptxprint. It is more complicated than the export to PDF inside Paratext, but may do what you want it to.

Thanks so much, PTXprint works!

Just a note that in PTXprint you must enable color on the Font tab.

There are a number of issues with using the Print PDF directly in Paratext (red letter is one). PTXprint was created to provide a more robust way to output PDF files. There is currently no ongoing support for the Paratext Print Draft tool so it is recommended that for situations like this, you use PTXprint.
