Rather than addressing a note to <team> and manually typing 'For exegetes' (etc) if he wants to hear from them us rather than the translators, our consultant would prefer to be able to address his notes to sub-categories of the team.
I.e. have, as well as the list of individual translators, to be able to direct his notes 'to translators', 'to exegetes' and eventually 'to reviewers'  as well as 'to team'.  I know that we can change the 'flag' to be something else, but he thinks this is possible. If it is, I've not seen anything in Paratext's help menu. Is it a hidden menu item??

I assume this would also include some kind of mechanism to declare that Frederick Bloggs and Ivan Othername are in 'translators' and 'team' while Penny Wise is on the 'reviewers' and 'team' list.

Is this possible, or do I need to tell him that he needs to pick 'team' and  the flags mechanism?

This isn't currently possible in PT9. As you suggested, you'll need to use "Team" and create "Exegetes" or "Reviewers" tags (flags).

The request makes sense, but the only "categories" of users that we have in PT9 are the roles in User permissions and these are currently intentionally simple and wouldn't fit the requirement perfectly. What was requested would need a way for teams to name categories and to put team members into any number of those categories.

Thanks for your answer. I'm now wondering if I muddied the water mentioning the group-management side of things, and if  a half-way house might be possible - just add 'categories' which are effectively aliases to <team>.
Or, alternatively, if there might be a way to address notes to the current roles in the "User permissions"?

Am I right to infer from you answer that the answer to both of those is a no as well?
