Our co-translator has a USB drive setup to do send/receive from both Paratext Lite on his phone and Paratext 9 on his laptop. He did a Send/Receive to the USB from his laptop, and sent the USB to a friend to share over the internet. The friend has done this before. However, nothing new was received. Looking at the files, the 02EXOMig.sfm.d file on the USB is dated 12/6/2024 with 122 Kb, so it appears the Send/Receive was successful with content in Exodus. I only have a blank Exodus book with 10 Kb.

Our friend did report that he initially received an error that the USB was not ejected properly when he first inserted it.

Is there a way to determine from the USB if the initial Send/Receive from our co-translator failed in some way that is preventing the new data from being sent? Is there a way to obtain the data on the USB from at least the Exodus file?

Thanks for any suggestions.

It is possible that the USB was corrupted and you might need to try a different USB drive, but I would first verify that the following have all been done correctly:
1) Everyone needs to make their S/R by clicking on the Main Menu > Send/Receive and verify that the correct location and project are selected. (Not clicking the S/R icon)
2)Translator sends via USB to Friend
3) Friend recieves via USB from Translator
4) Friend sends via Internet to you
5) You receive via Internet

If this process doesn't work then you should try a different USB drive.

Sorry about the issues that you have had with USB S/R. The most recent update to Paratext Lite available on Google Play Store is now available and has fixed a number of issues with S/R. The development team would most certainly encourage everyone to update their version of Paratext Lite to the latest.

The best chance of success with a new/blank USB disk is to ensure that you first do teh S/R operation on the tablet or phone first before using it on the laptop. This is due to Android restrictions about where external files are permitted to be located.

Blessings,
