Using Paratext 8. Today I tried checking download/install resources on the file menu and I received the following error message:

After I clicked “ok,” the Download/Install Resources window was blank.
I am connected to the internet. My registration is valid. It’s been working up till today. I tried restarting, but it didn’t change anything.

It’s possible this is related to a DBL upgrade, which would make Paratext 8 incapable of communicating securely with the DBL, and thus the error message.

I’m sorry you didn’t like Paratext 9. My suggestion would be to watch at least the first 4 videos here to get oriented, and try it again. It’s been suggested to use Paratext 9 in the morning and Paratext 8 in the afternoon to help ease the transition.

What’s New in Paratext 9?

After getting used to it, I don’t like Paratext 8 anymore. :upside_down_face: It feels clunky and confusing in comparison. Paratext 9 seems much more intuitive, once you know where to start (which is why I recommend the videos).

Does the same thing happen in Paratext 9.2?
We are not really supporting Paratext 8.0 anymore.

I have no idea. I’m only using Paratext 8.

I see the same error when I try to install a resource in Paratext 8.

Maybe it is time to upgrade to Paratext 9.

I checked with a friend who also has paratext 8 and now gets the same error message. It looks to me like it’s not my paratext, my computer or anything to do with my settings. It sounds to me like paratext 8 as a whole is being blocked from getting any resources any more. I understand they are not supporting paratext 8 any more. I tried paratext 9 and didn’t like it, so went back to 8. Probably will not upgrade to 9.

@anon291708 I see the same error in Paratext 8 on my Windows 10 machine.

I am able still able to install resources from Paratext 9.2 and 9.3 Beta.

Thanks for your ! I think you answered my question. That makes complete sense. At first I thought it was something I’d done on my Paratext. But when a friend of mine 8 tried and got the same error message, I suspected the DBL was no longer working with Paratext 8. I’d forgotten that support ended last December.

So I’m good. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t something I’d done by accident. I still have the resources I need and will back them up to my computer. I was just checking to see if there were updates to any of the resources I had.
