Hello, I have been having some problems in my Paratext project due to an incomplete association with FieldWorks. When I try to open the interlinearizer I get the following error message: “Paratext was unable to locate and associated FieldWorks lexical project. Go to the Project properties for MBT - Manya Bible Translation and in the Associations tab, choose a valid Associated Lexical Project.”

I am using Fieldworks 9. Here is a screenshot of the Vernacular Writing System Properties.

When I go to “Project Properties” in Paratext, I see a red exclamation mark by “Language”, which reads “Maninka (mzj)”. The language code is correct, although the name of the language should be “Manya” (I must have entered it incorrectly when starting the project some years ago). I have tried changing the language name on the Paratext Registry, but it always remains “Maninka (mzj)”.

On the “Associations” tab, there is an error sign on the tab, “Associated Lexical Project”. When try to choose my FieldWorks Manya Dictionary, the “OK” button is grayed out.

Any help getting this sorted out will be greatly appreciated!

I’m also having trouble associating my Flex project with Paratext. I’m having the same errors mentioned in this thread, but following the given solution isn’t working for me. Here’s my Paratext Project Properties: Associations tab.

Here is the relevant section of the Paratext registry page showing where I manually entered the x-cm extension to match the WS in Flex.

And here is my Flex WS properties window.

The WS flh-x-cm is the community orthography that is also used in the Paratext Project, while the other 3 WS are used for phonological analysis.

I’ve also tried changing both the Flex and Paratext codes to just the language code [flh], but I get the same error.

Any advice would be most appreciated!

The only thing I notice here is that in the FLEx settings it says “Latin”, but it is blank in the Paratext settings. What happens if you make these the same? Either both blank or both Latin?

anon848905, thanks for the reply. Flex allows me to delete “Latin”, but it won’t save the changes. When I come back into the WS dialog box “Latin” always comes back. And in Paratext, if I choose “Latin”, it changes the identifier to flh-Latn-x-cm. I tried this configuration just to make sure, and it still doesn’t work.

anon182617 - When you are on the associations tab, can you choose a FLEx project? What error message do you get? That it can’t locate a project or that the language codes to match? What versions of Paratext and FLEx are you using?

Another issue is the Fieldworks project has the code mzj-LR-fonipa while the Paratext project has the code mzj. These codes have to match so you either have to add “-LR-fonipa” in Paratext or remove it from Fieldworks.

Problem solved! I’m glad you asked what software versions I’m using. Looks like it was a bug in Flex.

Paratext version: 9.2.102.13
Flex version: 9.1.8.543 Beta (buggy)
updated Flex to 9.1.10.1062 Beta (works fine)

Thank you for your help.
