Is there a way to merge these two lists? If so, can you send me instructions for doing so?

There is a way to copy
one list to another if you are using Paratext 9.

Open the project you want to import the Biblical Terms into.

      Open your Biblical Terms

Select the Biblical Terms List you want to import.

In the Small Pancake (or Hamburger) Menu

              Under Tools

Choose Copy all terms in the [Insert Project Name] Project

                      (see picture below)

It will ask you if you want to copy all the terms say

yes and you should now have all the terms in your Projects
Biblical Terms list.

The best way to do this is to create a “Project list”. You do this by clicking on the star at the left of a term. That term will now be part of your project list (which you can select as the default). You can select terms from different lists, add terms from a search list or create your own terms in your project list. NOTE if you set a list as the default in the project settings then that becomes the default for everyone on the team. If you want to see a list temporarily you can change it in the Biblical Terms tool.

Hi Generic.User, I think I got this to work.
I copied the “All Biblical terms list” into my project list.
Now how do I make my project key terms list my default Biblical terms list?

Look for Help on: “How do I associate a Biblical Terms list with a project?”

Chose your project list as the default.

The default setting can be changed by editing project settings. In Project properties go to the Associations tab and change Major Biblical Terms into All. To my knowledge, you cannot change the general default in your PT, but you have to do this project by project.

Thank you anon982572. I did that. But now I don’t see “son of God” or “son of man” in my list of all Biblical terms.

No, you don’t. The Major Terms list is not just an abbreviated version of the All Terms list, but they are in some respects genuinely different. The All Terms list does not include but single words.

If you want to have the best parts of both, I think you have to create a project list and copy into that what you want. A huge job, but the only way to do it, I am aware of, in case you want to have the All Terms list + the word combinations in the Major Terms list.

anon848905, one more question. The word “to heal.” In my language, we have two different words for “to heal”
If it is related to the body, we use one word.
If it is related to the mind or soul, we use a different word. So when someone is raised from the dead as in Luke 8:55, that relates to the soul. When someone is healed of demon-possession as in Luke 8:33, that relates to the soul (in the minds of my mother tongue speaker friends) more than it relates to the body. So Luke 8:33 (healing from demon possession) and Luke 8:55 (being raised from the dead) require a different word for heal in comparison to other types of healing. But the Greek word makes no distinction. Can I make a distinction in my key words list? And how do I do so?

I highly recommend setting up a project terms list based upon the major biblical terms list. It is easy to add words to it from the all biblical terms list (or from any list), or even from Hebrew or Greek words that aren’t on either list. They are different lists and sometimes the same word is . the major lists has the added useful feature of “Category”. The category info is omitted for all entries in the ABT list. Also, the major list shows different senses for the same lemma. I set up a layout with the major, project, and all list and found it very easy to copy words into the project list.
