Hi,

I updated a colleague’s computer today from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
However, when installing PT8 I first got a message that the user’s name
and/or activation code were… “expired?”, “obsolete?” I can’t remember
the exact term. I’ve since then tried “repairing” PT; then completely
uninstalling and reinstalling it; then completely uninstalling it,
rooting out stray C: files and registry entries, then reinstalling it.
Every time after the very first time I get to the point where I launch
PT, choose the interface language, then need to insert the user’s name
and registration code, etc. But when I do, the “OK” button never become
active; i.e. it stays grayed out as if there is insufficient or
incorrect information.

I have access to the user’s email account to confirm the exact
registration information and can’t find any sign of him having to get a
new registration code that superseded the initial one. Does anyone have
any suggestions for me of what else I should try?

For whatever reason, Paratext thinks that you need to create a new registration code. Try create a new one and see if that fixes the problem.

Thanks. That solved it, although it baffles me why the code
suddenly became invalid when he had been using just days before on
the same physical machine, albeit on Win7 instead of Win10.
