I have a colleague who is being frustrated with the English interlinearizing of the Greet NT source text in Paratext 8. She sites several differences from the Paratext 7 glosses and feels that the choices for word glosses are interpretive (and at times not at all the interpretation she would choose!). She is wondering if it is possible to access the English glosses from the Paratext 7 version?

Some examples she gives are:
Rev. 1:1 the Greek verb didomi is glossed as “appoint” rather than "give."
Rev 1:3 the Greek word kairos is glossed as “end-time” rather than simply "time."
Romans 1.1 the Greek noun euangelion is glossed as “cause.of.the.gospel” rather than simply "gospel."
Romans 1.3 sarx is “mortal nature” rather than "flesh."
Romans 1.5 pistis is “doctrine” rather than “faith” which is not an interpretation in the English and French translations . . .

Since the resources are in different formats in Paratext 7 and 8, they are not directly interchangeable, but if we could get a copy of the glosses as a Paratext project then it could be added as an alternative gloss (even though that would mean losing the French gloss). But then I don’t know what, if any, implications that may have on copyright restrictions. But I thought it was worth asking.

Issues around meanings and the number of senses each source language word has are common because there are many opinions on how these should be handled. I suppose that is why Paratext has several Greek lexicons for example. Should we request a new feature that the glosses in the Source Language Tool be editable?

I agree, going with BART is much more helpful. The one thing (or two) PT has up on BART is the special dictionaries for Human made things and Animals and Plants, the dictionary for the LXX and the OT semantic domains dictionary. And in BART you can add your own notes, if you don’t like something or as a reminder…

If you are able to use BART or AGNT in Translator’s Workplace you will get
much better glosses. BART is most helpful because of the powerful search
tools.

The national translators often enter a gloss, then change their mind about the spelling or about the gloss in general. We ... in the word list, can be eliminated. Is that possible?

Paratext 9.2 新增了一項源語言文本資源:OHEB/OGRK(開放聖經希伯來文舊約,以及 UBS 希臘文新約第四版)。我推測 UBS 希臘文新約第四版是為那些不想使用 UBS 5(NA28)的譯者準備的,但 OHEB 提供了哪些 BHS/UBS5 源語言文本尚未提供的內容?形態學分析不同嗎?釋義(glosses)不同嗎?有什麼理由要切換嗎?
