Today I was working with a new project approving renderings with the Biblical terms tool. I had approved the rendering “circumcision” for περιτομή but some verses such Romans 3:1 were not marked as approved. I verified that the word in Romans 3:1 was spelled correctly. It turns out that Romans 3:1 is a rhetorical question and the sentence ended in a question mark. I verified the character and punctuation inventories, and the problem was not there. I did find that someone had placed “?” as word medial punctuation. When I removed the question mark from word medial punctuation then all the verses with “circumcision?” were marked as approved. This could happen with semicolon, colon or any other punctuation, so word medial punctuation is something to check if verses that have a correct rendering are not being marked as correct by the Biblical terms tool.
