Paratext 7.5 introduced a new and better way to customize the number and settings for project progress settings. In the Project menu, there is a dialog box “Project Progress settings”. This dialog permits you to customize the names and number of project stages, and also permits you to assign particular tasks (such as running certain checks) to particular stages. If you use this setting to change the number of stages, the project progress of this project should be readable by anyone receiving the project via send/receive.

The older method, where you customized a bookefforts.csv file inside your Paratext settings folder (but outside specific project folders) is not always shareable via send/receive with other users. The project progress may be visible on the project administrator’s computer, but others attempting to view or edit project progress may see an error message: “Number of project stages does not match number of stages in Stages.xml file. Contact project administrator to get a copy of this file.”

To resolve this error, all the project administrator needs to do is go to Project > Project Progress settings, and verify that the stages are named as they should be. If they are, if the administrator clicks “OK” to close this dialog, the needed stages.xml file should be created for the project. The administrator can then send/receive, the other users can send/receive and they should then be able to see and/or edit project progress.
