What are the stages of the “registration status” field in the PT8 registry?

Stage 1 = "pending review"
Stage 2 = ?
Stage 3 = review complete?

Who is the review done by? What is being reviewed?

This review process decides what level of Paratext a project receives access to, whether it be the Basic Tier, Translator Tier or Publisher Tier. More information on those tiers can be found in the “Project registration” section of this page:

https://pt8.paratext.org/help/registry/registration/

Here is an outline of the different stages:

Stage 1 of 3 — Pending review

It is in this stage only temporarily until the next round of e-mails is sent out to registration reviewers.

Stage 2 of 3 — Internal organisation review

When it switches to this stage, an e-mail is sent out to the people with the “registration reviewer” role in the project’s managing organisations. They have two weeks to correct any issues with the registration (eg. if it should be marked “confidential” or has the wrong language setting)

Stage 3 of 3 — External organisation review

After two weeks in stage 2, unless the project is marked confidential, an e-mail is sent out to all registration reviewers in other organisations that the project exists. They have 4 weeks to review the projects that may be relevant to their organisation and can contact the Board of Governors if they see that there is an issue in the project registration, for example if the project is infringing on copyrights of existing projects or the members are engaged with activities damaging to bible translation work. (This does not happen often; the expectation is that the vast majority of projects will pass the process without issues.)

For confidential projects, projects are not reported to people outside the project’s managing organisations. Instead, a different review process will apply, but this is not yet in place.

Internal and external review complete

This stage is reached automatically four weeks after being in the previous stage. If no objections have been filed with the Paratext Board of Governors, the project is now free to use Publisher Tier features, if this wasn’t already the case.
