Custom versification: Bible module changes verse numbers

Question

A local team uses Bible modules to produce monthly lectionaries. Their translation uses custom versification - most books follow Original versification, except for Psalms, which follow English versification.

The Bible module has, for example, \ref PSA 84:1-4. However in Preview Output view, this changes to PSA 84:0-3. This carries over to PTXPrint as well.

The custom.vrs has the line
PSA 84:0-12 = PSA 84:1-13

Is there a setting we need to change, or is our specification incorrect?

The Bible Module spec does have a marker for setting versification. The documentation for it says:

\vrs -- Identify the versification of the verses or ranges of verses in the specification.
Example: \vrs English

I've never really messed with the interaction between Bible Modules and custom versifications. Have you tried both `\vrs Original` and `\vrs English` in the Bible Module to see if either yields to the correct results?

(This is if your Bible Module sticks to one book. If it imports from multiple books, you may need to just manually adjust all the affected PSA references.)

Thank you. The module imports from multiple books, OT and NT.

I hadn't noticed that the module had "\vrs Original" at the top, which may have been overriding the custom versification.
However, removing the \vrs line (it doesn't accept "\vrs Custom") fixes the Psalms versification, but causes other references to be changed to English versification in Preview Output, e.g.:
ISA 9:1-6 (Original) changes to ISA 8:23-9:5 (English)
MIC 5.1-3 (Original) changes to MIC 4.14-5.2 (English)
(There is no specification in their custom.vrs for Isaiah or Micah, as they follow Original for those.)

So it looks to me that the Bible Module isn't taking the custom.vrs into account. Is there perhaps another way of specifying custom versification in the Bible Module?

My first guess is that Paratext's implementation of Bible Modules simply isn't able to handle custom versification, but a developer would need to verify that.

Two things I would try.

1) \vrs custom.sty

2) Put a copy of the custom.sty file in the same folder as the BM, and then do #1.

Thank you. I did try your suggestions (I assume you meant "custom.vrs" and not "custom.sty"), but it didn't make a difference. In fact, the BM shows a red "Error" at the top right when "\vrs Custom" or "\vrs Custom.vrs" are specified.

For now we're specifying "\vrs Original" and adjusting the Psalms verses accordingly.
