I watched all the word list and spelling videos at https://paratext.org/videos/en/wordlist-spell-check-training-videos/.
I also watched some of the emdc videos related to this topic.

This second attached file has a punctuation marks which are being treated as a word. How do I tell PTX that these are not words and should not appear on the wordlist? I think for one or two of them, I need to delete them.

for the third attached file, this is a glottal stop but it is a valid punctuation mark that occurs within a word and should not be treated as a word. What should i do about this one?

the fourth attached file shows a hyphen being treated as a word. How do i tell ptx that this is not a word?

Next-What are the steps to get PTX -wordlist to only display the words which are undecided (i.e. just the ones w the question mark)?

anon848905, my glottal stop (third line down) is not a word but it is showing up as a word. So should I “accept it” and “approve it” within “wordlist” as a word even though it is a character and not a word?

anon441204 - since we can’t see the concordance view below I don’t know what the contexts of these glottals are, but my experience is that often they are supposed to be something else (like quotation marks). Assuming that the glottal is not in a proper word context then I would mark it incorrect. If it doesn’t have a specific replacement then I would cancel the correction. This leaves the glottal marked with the X but no specific correction. You can then go to those 6 places and make the corrections.

Hi anon848905,
You said
since we can’t see the concordance view below I don’t know what the
contexts of these glottals are,

  • I now have the concordance view installed (see attached file). But it
seems to be blank. Please let me know what to do next so you can help me.
*But I think I might have figured it out. I replaced it with a single
quote and that seemed to work.

My next issue is the dash (see attached). PTX is treating the dash as a
word. What should I do in this case?

Also, with almost 7000 unique words in the Book of Luke, do I need to go
through them all in my key terms checking? If not, how do I determine
which ones?

Also when I enter a word into key terms rendering (see attached form),
do I enter both the stem and the unique form of the word or just the stem?

Can I also get the website where you want me to post my ptx questions?

Thanks

Can you explain to me how to do this (see attached file)?

my stem is “pacah”

But I want PTX to recognize the following forms of it

pacah-pacah

mamacahakan

mamacahi

mamacahiakan

Also do you have the PTX training videos in Indonesian and which ones do
I use for a total beginner?

Thanks

  • Here is a quick video describing how to deal with the issue of the hyphen in the word list:
    Hyphen in the word list
The issue is that you have references that are not marked as references.
  • When I mentioned the concordance view I was referring to the list of references that show up below the list of words (not the Concordance Builder - that is a whole different tool)
  • There are a number of videos about Biblical Terms that can be found at paratext.org/videos. If you scroll down a little in the English you will find a set of topics. You can also look at the guide for the renderings window about how to enter the renderings.
  • Jeff Shrum has created a video about how to create a more controlled Project List if you don’t want to work through all the videos: Creating a biblical terms list
  • These messages are being posted on the support site which is support.paratext.org At the bottom of each message you should see “View Topic” where you click to go to the site and see this topic or review other topics.
  • There are some training videos in Indonesian at paratext.org/videos (look for the bahasa Indonesia tab at the top of the page)
  • Note that in order for the Match based on Morphology to work you must have several things in place. Note that step three indicates that you must specify the morphology in either the wordlist or interlinear.

anon441204,
There were no attachments so I’m not 100% sure of what you are asking, but here are some thoughts.

  1. Paratext recognizes any valid Unicode word forming character. So for instance the glottal character is considered word forming and will show up in the word list as a part of a word.
  2. Punctuation should only show up in the word list if it has been added to the alphabetic character list or to the word medial punctuation list (found in the language settings).
  3. To see only the undecided words you should click on the first filter (usually says “All Words”) and select undecided from the list.

Are you on the east coast?
I need some help with morphology. For example, if the stem starts with a “B”, the prefix is “mam” but if the stem starts with a “p” the prefix is “mam” but the stem-initial-consonant drops out. If stem starts with D, prefix is “man” If stem starts with “T”, prefix is “man” but the
stem-initial-consonant drops out. same phenomenon for stems starting with for K and G
