L.S. I am using the latest version of paratext 9. Accoring to the github documentation \sup \sup* is present in usfm 3.0 since 2018. Is there a way to ‘unleash’ it in paratext ?

You must also verify that project is using USFM3 on the advanced tab of the project settings. In PT9 you have the option of choosing USFM2 or USFM3 for the project.

I just found out it is more complicated. I can use \sup in books like MAT etc, but not in the introduction (in which I would like to use \sup \sup*. Does the INT book require a special style file ? If yes I have not been able to find it.

in usfm.sty
sup occurs under
ip im ipi imi ipq imq ipr iq iq1 iq2 iq3 io io1 io2 io3 io4

In usfm.sty the marker \sup occurs under the following markers:
ip im ipi imi ipq imq ipr iq iq1 iq2 iq3 io io1 io2 io3 io4 ms ms1 ms2 s s1 s2 s3 s4 cd sp d lh li li1 li2 li3 li4 lf lim lim1 lim2 lim3 lim4 m mi nb p pc ph phi pi pi1 pi2 pi3 pr pmo pm pmc pmr po q q1 q2 q3 q4 qc qr qd qm qm1 qm2 qm3 tr th1 th2 th3 th4 thr1 thr2 thr3 thr4 tc1 tc2 tc3 tc4 tcr1 tcr2 tcr3 tcr4 f fe x NEST

If you need it to occur under some other marker in the int book, you can either add it to a custom.sty file or if you are using the frtbak.sty file (which is what can be used to provide special formatting for front and back matter). Then you would add the changes there.

Hello @goodgoan
I’m not sure if I understood “unleash”, but if you mean “how to find it” in Paratext, the easiest way to use a character marker, for me, is to select the text you want to apply the superscript formatting to, then press F5 (to insert a backslash), and finally search or type sup. When you see the marker you can click to apply or make sure it is selected (with the blue line) and then press the spacebar.

Thank you anon689242, for some reason just typing \sup did not make it appear. In the list it is present. Merci.
