How to achieve Super script with \sup \sup*

Question

L.S. I am using the latest version of paratext 9. Accoring to the github documentation \sup \sup* is present in usfm 3.0 since 2018. Is there a way to ‘unleash’ it in paratext ?

You must also verify that project is using USFM3 on the advanced tab of the project settings. In PT9 you have the option of choosing USFM2 or USFM3 for the project.

I just found out it is more complicated. I can use \sup in books like MAT etc, but not in the introduction (in which I would like to use \sup \sup*. Does the INT book require a special style file ? If yes I have not been able to find it.

In usfm.sty the marker \sup occurs under the following markers:

If you need it to occur under some other marker in the int book, you can either add it to a custom.sty file or if you are using the frtbak.sty file (which is what can be used to provide special formatting for front and back matter). Then you would add the changes there.

I’m not sure if I understood “unleash”, but if you mean “how to find it” in Paratext, the easiest way to use a character marker, for me, is to select the text you want to apply the superscript formatting to, then press F5 (to insert a backslash), and finally search or type sup. When you see the marker you can click to apply or make sure it is selected (with the blue line) and then press the spacebar.
