I would be grateful if you could assist me access Concordance Builder in Partext 9. Any time i tried creating the Concordance and select my Concordance model (eg US English NRSV or UK English GNBDC) to create the concordance , I get the following message,
"Text GNBDC is not Installed in Paratext. Please open Paratext, install the text and then restart then restart the application. If you recently installed it in Paratext, close and re-open Concordance Builder." yet I have these texts/resource in Paratext.

Your assistance is greatly needed.

Thank you.

@anon291708 have you found a solution to this issue. I get the same error.

. I tried with KJV as well, but the result was same.

Before I give a false impression: I don’t know much about Concordance Builder.

But I think Concordance Builder has hard coded the names of some resources. Here’s something you could try: if you copy GNBUK.p8z to GNBDC.p8z, does that help? Don’t just rename it, make a second copy with the name Concordance Builder is looking for, in C:\My Paratext 9 Projects_Resources\ or C:\My Paratext 9 Projects_Resources.

Some people who rely on Concordance Builder plan to spend 30 days looking into these problems. I’ll have a better picture in a month or so.

Thank you @anon892024 for your quick response.

I already had a GNBDC.p8z in my Paratext folder. However on my computer the Paratext folder is in a non-standard location, E:\My Paratext 9 Projects_Resources. That could also contribute to the problem.

I tried by creating a Paratext folder and a _resource folder under my C drive, just in case. But it didn’t help

PS: I started building a concordance using Access (to get the ball rolling)… so when the team who’s going to look into the issue will have a solution I’m happy to test it.

I have never succeeded in getting concordance builder to work from the Pt 9 installation, however if you open it from a Pt8 installation (shown here) it should work.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Paratext 8\ConcordanceTool.exe

Yes, the resources are hard coded and if a concordance still needs to be generated that work around is necessary. Once a concordance is started, those files are no longer necessary.

If I understand correctly, you are saying you need to do both of these things?

  1. Rename the resource, and
  2. Use Paratext 8
    Is that right?

Yes… I just tested it again today.

pt 8 can load both projects and models (and create projects from models)
pt 9 can load projects but is unable to load models… (nor create a new project based on a model)

That is correct… the resource filename in the my paratext project_resources directory must match what is hard-coded in CB - (the filenames are shown on the menu)

pt 8 *.exe

pt 9 *.exe

When I try concordance builder I get the same result. I do know that a project has to have the status of “publishing tier” in order to use Concordance builder. I need to verify that I have such a project to test it.

Greetings,

An update on the use of Concordance Builder with Paratext 9.

During the course of October-November 2020, the Publishing Assistant developers took time to analyze the Concordance Builder and Names Index Builder software to determine what was required to update it for stable operation with Paratext 9. Various critical updates and other helpful updates were completed.

The latest patch for Paratext 9.0 which includes the these updates to Concordance Builder and names Index Builder is available here.
http://update.ubs-icap.org/ParatextTest/patch_9.0.103.48.msp

The latest update to Paratext 9.1 (9.1.104.18) also includes the CB and NB updates (the work on CB and NIB was not complete in time for the initial 9.1 release).

In the CB or NIB Help menu, there is a link to a User Manual which points here:

This is not extensive but should help someone getting started.
