When an enhanced resource is linked to a translation project, it uses the Biblical terms list shown on the associations tab in the project properties of the translation project. If one wants the enhanced resource to use a different Biblical terms list, one must change the Biblical terms list on the associations tab. Changing the active Biblical terms list in either the Biblical terms tool, or the Biblical terms renderings window will have no effect on the enhanced resource.

That is good to know. So why then does the heading of the Biblical Terms window always say:
Project Biblical Terms:
even if I open a different list in the tool, and even if I change the association in project settings? Is that a bug? Or intentional for some reason?
It is not showing the currently open list nor is it showng the project setting in the associations tab, because even if I change any of these (open a different list or change the setting), it will still say the same thing (Project Biblical Terms) at the top of the window.
I would have thought it would make a lot more sense if it actually said there, which list it is showing below, in addition to which project it is currently applying it to, because normally I would assume I know what list I’ve got my project associated with. But if I’m switching around between lists, because I’m checking something, I may lose track of which list is currently open.

This is a known bug and has been reported. I thought it was going to be fixed soon. If this is an important issue you to you, then you can comment on it by going to Help–> Give feedback. Personally, I think it is an important issue since it is already difficult to keep track of what is going on with key terms. On the other hand, I suppose it is true that the majority of users never change the active Biblical terms list used by the Biblical terms tool.

Worth noting is that the Major Biblical Terms list (and Project Biblical Terms lists that were build off of it) is the only list that includes the information needed to sync with the ERs. Other lists may partially sync, but there is no guarantee.

Also, it is important to know that if the Biblical terms list on the associations tab is changed while the project is linked to an enhanced resource, then Paratext needs to be restarted before the enhanced resource will sync to the new list.

Can someone give an update on this issue? There still seems to be a disconnect between the Biblical Terms list used by the enhanced resources and the list used by the project.

The issue described here was just a display issue where the Biblical Terms tool was not showing the correct list in the window title. The data was correct. This should be fixed in 9.2.

Are you talking about something else?

Yes, @anon291708, this post raises the question of whether the ERs are capable of utilizing customized terms. You said earlier,

I would like to know what that needed information is and where it is located so that I can enable the ERs to sync with my customized terms.

Thanks!

There isn’t a way to add the information through Paratext.

The difference is in the format of the verse reference (<Verse>) inside the XML file - it has information about the word offset in the original language where the word appears in the verse. For example, in Major Biblical Terms, a verse might be listed as 00401100500032 instead of just 004011005 to mean the 32nd word in NUM 11:5. This allows the ER to know that a word in the ER directly corresponds to a word in the Biblical Terms list.

Thanks! That’s very useful. Could you tell me which source language resource(s) this draws from? (Particularly in my thinking are the textual differences between different Greek texts.)

I think the Hebrew and Greek text used in the ER’s should be equivalent to the HEB/GRK Source Language Tool text, but the files being used are different.

The Hebrew and Greek text used in the ER’s can be viewed as an ER by using “Download/Install resources” and looking for BHS+ or UBSGNT5+

The matching of the words in the text to dictionary entries may not be perfect.
