Is there more help available when registering PT8 projects? With the projects I’ve registered so far, I’ve had a few questions about how to fill in the fields. A couple of examples:

  • In Scope, what is the difference between “Portions” and “Selections? They sound identical to me.
  • In Managing organisations, I only have the choice of “SIL International” or “SIL International (in Eurasia)” – at least that’s what I’ve been offered for projects I’ve been trying to register today, though I think that in the past the list was longer. Surely there should be choices for Bible societies and other SIL areas, correct?
  • What’s the difference between a “Rightsholder” and a “Rights administrator”?

For managing organisations, the most specific organisation is usually better than the less specific organisation. If you add “SIL International (in Eurasia)”, it will consider “SIL International” to implicitly be a managing organisation since “SIL International” is a parent organisation of “SIL International (in Eurasia)”.

You’re only able to choose managing organisations that you are affiliated with, or parent/child organisations thereof. If you need to add a managing organisation you’re not associated with, add a verified translator from that organisation as admin or consultant to the project and have them change the managing organisation.

n Managbing org. you can start
typing and the list will start to match what is typed. As in,
“Wycli” starts to present a list of Wycliffe orbs.

      Me thinks selections is more

like stories where as portions are parts of translation that
have been done so far.

What did you mean here? Could you retype it, please?

This works better in some boxes in the Registry forms than others. The boxes on the Publishing tab can be searched, and your search term will match any word or part of a word; but with the boxes on the Basic tab, if you type a letter, the highlight will simply go to the first name that begins with that letter – this is much less useful for searching medium to long lists.

Thanks, that’s a useful opinion.

Here we go again. Hope this
makes it clearer.

      for Managing organisations.

you can start typing and the list will start to match what is
typed. As in typing, “Wycli” starts to present a list of
Wycliffe orgs.
