I’ve received the following cry for help from Warren G, a translation consultant at a workshop. I’ve told him to try resetting Paratext, though he’s probably tried that. Any ideas? I assume this is PT8, not PT7, but have asked him to confirm that.

"I arrived in K** yesterday and the Proverbs workshop (2 weeks) began today. Lots of people are finding trouble with internet access and that is certainly the case in this guest house . This morning I tried to do a Send/Receive before going to the workshop but it just hung and I couldn’t close the Send/Receive or Paratext, so eventually had to crash the computer (stop button).

“But now, when I attempt a S/R it shows no projects at all - there were 47 on my list, 42 being inactive. How can I recover my list of projects for S/R.”

The user has withdrawn their request for support. It was apparently the result of poor Internet connectivity.

I think it must be the slowness of the internet at the guest house. Alastair pointed out to me that we DO have quite good connection at the workshop and I was able here to do a S/R without problem.

Sorry for the hassle. First step in the “Connection lost” help was to check whether you have connection (which is rather a Yes/No question). I don’t know how to measure what bandwidth, or how effective, the connection is - and it seems clear to me that was the cause of my problem and of wasting a lot of time - for you as well. Sorry indeed.![]
