Why does it take 5 minutes to cancel send/receive

Cancelling a Send / Receive takes an inordinately long time (5 minutes seems a generous estimate). Is there any way I can speed this up? I’m just migrating to PT8 in a slow internet location, and it’s proving very frustrating…

Why does Paratext sometimes send a large file after Send/Receive is completed?
We recently got this question as a support issue and tracked this down to the user settings that Paratext backs up about once ... is over 10M. This change will be in Paratext 9.4.
