Why does it take 5 minutes to cancel send/receive

Cancelling a Send / Receive takes an inordinately long time (5 minutes seems a generous estimate). Is there any way I can speed this up? I’m just migrating to PT8 in a slow internet location, and it’s proving very frustrating…

Send/Receive from USB does not seem to be receiving recent changes.
Our co-translator has a USB drive setup to do send/receive from both Paratext Lite on his phone and Paratext 9 on ... USB from at least the Exodus file? Thanks for any suggestions.
