A consultant has created a consultant notes project using English versification. He now wants to use it to check translations in a part of the world that use Original versification. When the versification of the Consultant notes project is changed to Original, the position of the notes are not adjusted to the verse he is actually commenting on. This is particularly an issue in Psalms where every verse is off by at least one number. Is there any way to adjust these notes short of a custom python script?

anon291708,

The verses do not adjust in his case, because he was looking at the vernacular while making the notes so he placed the notes in the verses that corresponded to vernacular project which is using original versification. Also his consultant notes project has an association to a Biblical terms list that he does not have on his computer. We will try resetting Paratext to break that association. Why does a consultant notes project need to be associated to a Biblical terms list anyway.

Following up on this problem, we were able to resolve the problem with the association to a Biblical terms list, then Paratext allowed us to change the versification of the consultant notes project to “Original” and now all of the notes are displayed in the correct verses in the vernacular projects.

If the notes were created from an English versification, then the project must have the versification set as English. Then when viewing the notes in a project with the versification set as Original, the notes should adjust to the correct locations (if it does not do this, then it’s likely a bug). If the versifications of both projects match, then Paratext assumes that no adjustment is necessary.
