A user has done all the rendering in Major Biblical terms in the book of Numbers and Malachi when he goes to Assignment and Progress window to mark the progress, the Biblical Term Rendering found task keeps on showing one issue, which hinders him to proceed to the next task. When he clicks on the 1 Issue link the Biblical Term rendering windows open with blank list.

What could be the issue, we could not figure it out. Friends, we need your help. please see the screenshots

Turns out this is a bug in Paratext caused by not having a rendering defined for a term. Because there are no renderings defined for the term, Assignments and Progress is incorrectly assuming that there’s no way that it could be dealt with. However, in your case, the occurrence for Malachi is denied. You can work around the bug in Paratext by adding a rendering (any text will do) to the אֱמֶת — truth, faithfulness term in the project.

I’ll also write up the problem so that it can be fixed.

Have you tried showing ALL terms (instead of just Missing Renderings") and then looking to see if there is an outstanding “Rendering Discussion Note” lurking somewhere that needs to be resolved? These can be found in the left-most column with a ? for the title of the column. Clicking on the ? should sort the problem term to the top of the list. Open the note and take whatever action is needed, and then resolve it. Hopefully that will solve the issue.

There was this discussion note in Malachi: “Paratext has identified a single term which should be two different terms. Please review the renderings that Paratext copied to both מַשָּׂא-1 and מַשָּׂא-2. These are now separate terms.”

I don’t know what does that mean by and I just click the Resolve button. But the issue is still there.

____, was this project originally a Paratext 7 project that was migrated to Paratext 8. If so then the discussion note in Malachi stating :

Was generated by the system during that migration. Several of the older terms form Paratext 7 were split into two or more terms in Paratext 8.

So this does not relate to your problem. Are there any other discussion notes that are pending when you showed all terms?

Have you used the Paratext help menu to report the problem?

We noticed this in our projects after the Paratext 8 migration. Some notes were automatically created simply to inform users that Biblical terms that were previously a single term had been split into two. This should allow you to check the renderings for these terms, and then the notes can be resolved. That may resolve your issue.

The check that is failing is not the Rendering Discussion Notes check so the failures are not related to the discussion notes.

We entered the rendering as you suggested but instead of fixing the issue, another issues are added up, not sure what is the problem here. Need help.

These are now legitimate failures as it looks like Paul Saw Thang changed the renderings for the terms a few days ago so they no longer match what is in the text in Malachi. You can see this by editing the renderings and clicking on the History button:

On the plus side, that means that the checks are doing their job in catching these problems in your project now.

@anon291708 are there any update on this issue? I’m facing a similar issue in a project that I’m supporting. In this case, the issue is in the book of Numbers. I tried to locate any missing renderings, however I couldn’t. You apparently found the term that causing the issue. How did you do it?

Btw, I’m on PTX9.1

The issue was fixed in 2018 in PT 8.0. I’m guessing you’re having a different related issue. It’s probably easiest if you use Help > Give feedback so we can take a look at it.

We faced a similar issue in the book of Number. I found the location of the issue in Paratext 8 by the “Big Picture View” option, but that option not in Paratext 9 or 9.1.
Open Big picture view in PT 8
If you hold down the shift key while clicking on the Project menu you will get Big picture view.

Thank you Br. Prabhu_beelagi. I had a look at it, and found that there is one issue pending. However clicking on it doesn’t take me anywhere. As @anon291708 suggested, I’ve reported an issue from Paratext.

I found Big Picture View in PT 9.0. You have to hold down Shift while clicking the Project Tab menu icon. From PT Help:

To open the Big Picture Chart, while holding down the Shift key, click the tab menu icon in your project, then from the Project menu, select Big Picture Chart (Experimental).

Good find. But the Big Picture chart is not in Paratext 9.1.

Perhaps the new Assignments and Progress gives the same functionality?

Thank you @sewhite, Assignments and Progress gives the same functionality, but like NUM 25:19 (מַגֵּפָה - blow, plague, defeat) it will not give the exact location of the issue.

I believe the developers are working on an update to fix the problem that the Biblical terms tool expects מַגֵּפָה at Num 25:19 in a project using English versification, when the English versification does not have Numbers 25:19.

So the problem turned out to be a bug in Assignments and Progress where it is not correctly handling the case of a denied error for a verse that doesn’t exist (specifically NUM 25:19 in the term מַגֵּפָה - blow, plague, defeat). I’ve fixed the bug in Paratext and the fix should go out as a patch to 9.1 soon-ish.
