I just had a translator register for Paratext 8, using the same name as their Paratext 7 registration, but without using their Paratext 7 registration code.
Looking at the user history, it looks like they initially registered with the name different, and then changed it after the user was created.
Will this cause them issues when their project is migrated? I am guessing that I should have them change or delete the new user name, and then register the old name for Paratext 8 with the registration code?
Thanks

Sorry, I think I misunderstood before. If they are currently using the same name as they used in PT7 (regardless as to whether they changed their name to it), then they should be fine since Paratext matches them up based on their name.

Also, @anon070596 can correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty certain that using their PT7 registration code is just to automatically accept a user to their previous organization. If they have already gone through the effort to re-join their organization, there probably isn’t much point in having them re-register using their old PT7 registration code.

Yes, it will cause problems. Their username is what defines a user to Paratext. If they changed their name, then they will be treated as a different user to Paratext.

So, if they change their name in the system to a different name (actually ideal, as the wife needs her own user name), then the original name can also be registered, using the old code?

Thanks

@BEH Could you (privately) let me know the name of the user in question? Then I can check whether there is any problem with this account.

@anon291708 This is usually the case, but not always, since the organisations in PT7 and PT8 don’t always match up exactly.

Thanks, that’s good to know.
