I have run into a weird issue on a user’s computer running PT 7.5 and was wondering if anybody else had encountered this.

When I go to Tools > Registration Information, I cannot click OK or Cancel buttons (both of which are enabled).

The same thing happens when I go to File > Open Project/Resource: I can click on a project/resource to open, but cannot click on OK or Cancel.

This all happens with the left-click on the laptop trackpad. But I CAN left-click with the trackpad on icons in the Paratext task bar, on menu items in the menu bar, and within project/resource windows.

I also can use a mouse that left-clicks on the buttons in dialogue boxes just fine.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thank you,

We are seeing this issue on 2 completely unrelated computers, both with Windows 7 and most (if not all) of the most recent Windows Updates. Both computers recently (in the last few months) did a fresh install of Windows 7.

We found a way to get left-click to work using the trackpad: if you quickly click left, right, left (or sometimes just right, left) on the trackpad, it seems to be able to click the buttons in a dialogue box in both FW and PT. I’m curious if somehow PT and FW think the left-click on the trackpad is down when the dialogue box is opened, and thus right-clicking first “releases” the false left-click.

These are obviously not “solutions” as much as they may point towards a cause or a solution.

I cross-posted this on the FieldWorks forum: https://groups.google.com/forum/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer#!topic/flex-list/tIjodyB-MP4

We are seeing this same issue in FieldWorks 8.2.8 and 8.3.9. Left-click using the trackpad does not work on buttons in a dialogue box in FieldWorks. It also doesn’t work on any of the options (for example: “Open a project”, “Get project from a colleague”, etc) in the window that opens if you have no default project selected. Left-click using the trackpad does work on menu items, taskbar buttons, and elsewhere in FieldWorks. Left-click using a mouse button does work in all of these cases.

Both computers were Dell Latitudes (different models) and came with an application/driver called “Cypress Trackpad”. We did the following:

-Uninstalled Cypress
-Installed the default Dell Trackpad driver for each machine

Now the left-click on the trackpad works fine!
