We've been using Modules and PTX Print to create illustrated Bible story books for several years. We include the \fig statements in the module spec file rather than directly in the Scripture book file, and it has worked well for Jonah (full book) and for various workshop assignments.

But I can't get pictures to print in a Christmas Story module. We have used this module spec file over a few years, and I think it used to work in PtxP, but I'm not sure. We used to print it via Pathway and LibreOffice.

In May this year I experimented with PTX Print. I think perhaps the pictures didn't print at that time so I let it rest, and tried again now, after promising a couple of translation teams that I would prepare a book for them before Christmas. The pics still won't print, starting with either the module spec file directly or with the module loaded in an Xtra PT book. I have tried every tweak I can think of.

Interestingly, I can't get the pics to print in PT 9.5 either, from Project Menu items "Export to RTF" or "Print" to a PDF file. Perhaps this is part of the problem?

Has anyone managed to get pictures to print with a PT Module spec? I can't get pictures to print from either PtxP 2.94 or 3.03. I have tried many options:

  • The module file shows 0 errors, and the same file has been used in other years on other languages.
  • Each picture is specified in the module spec at the end of a \ref line, which was recommended by PT Module spec instructions some time ago. Here's a sample from my module:

  • I generated piclist entries for the XXF book. No pics are missing, but the pic settings are greyed out so I can't change them in PtxP 3.03. I did change settings in 2.94 or 3.01 the other day, though they do not appear in the printouts. When I tried printing a Bible Module the piclist entries displayed with the XXF Anchor Refs, of the form XXF p1=xxx, where xxx represents the line number of the Final SSF.
  • I tried changing the view of XXF in PT before printing from PtxP (this was helpful in a much earlier version of PtxP but I don't think it's needed now).
  •  When I printed from the XXF Book no chapter divisions appeared in PtxP Preview window and no chapter numbers appeared in the ref'ed text (correctly, I believe).
  • When I printed from the Bible Module, oddly (to me) chapters XXF2, XXF1 were in the Preview window, and drop-cap chapter numbers displayed in the text, also oddly to me (screenshot).

I will generate an archive tomorrow, unless someone has an easy answer. But I'm running out of time for this project and might have to revert to LibreOffice for the 3 languages I have in mind.

Any help will be received gratefully!

Kim,

Mark may have already answered your question off line, but here is something that I discovered. When I added a picture to one of the module books (using the same format that you did) it generated an "Anchor ref" under the Details table like this:

Anchor Ref: XXB p001=6

IF I change this to a reference from the \ref statement

Anchor Ref: XXB LUK1.9

Then the figure prints.

When you hover over the Anchor ref box there is some information, but it isn't clear about modules. And at least in my quick test, if I had multiple occurrences of LUK 1.9, it put the picture with the correct one as used in Paratext.
