Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to have more than one Glossary lists or how to accommodate two separate Glossaries in PT. I have two separate lists (or Glossaries) that I don’t want to mix because they give explanations of different kinds. PT has only one book for Glossary (GLO) as Peripheral. So, I want to know how to include my List #2 in PT, but functioning just like List #1 (Glossary). I tried creating Extra book (XXA) and Name Index (NDX), but both don’t work. For XXA, for the entry I wanted to enter \xxa_…\xxa*, but it is not recognized as valid. For NDX, \ndx_…\ndx* is valid, but the link does not work.

Any help is appreciated.

I also would very much like help with this issue. I work on a project where the team wants to include a ‘glossary’ for regional variations in their language and also a normal glossary with terms like Ferisi. The first will be in the front of the publication and the other in the back.

You can only have one book called “GLO”, but you have several other books (XXA-XXG) that can be used for producing other materials. You could put a second set of glossary files in one of those books.

Thanks anon848905,

So if I create a second book, do I use the same \w markers for both sets? How will Paratext know what the link is pointing to?

You will not be able to link to the second book. The linking works with GLO.

Okay anon848905,

Thanks so much. Because we want the links, I think we will keep everything in GLO up to the point it goes to DBL. Having two separate books is not necessary for App and DBL, I assume.

However, we will need to split the GLO book into two for print publications. I may have our colleague do that in publishing assistant, instead of creating a ‘for print’ version in Paratext. Is that what you would recommend?

Yes, you could do this at print time. You would want to make sure you use some kind of marker to distinguish the different terms. Not sure the best suggestion.
