In Paratext 8.0, you must register projects created in earlier versions of Paratext if you want to use all the features of Paratext 8.0 for those projects.

There are three ways you can register projects:

  • Select a project from Open Project/Resource (on the File menu)
  • Select a project from Send/Receive Projects (on the File menu)
  • For a project that has been migrated but not registered, select Project Properties and Settings from the Project menu, and then click Register online... (in the Registration box on the General tab).

In the process of registering projects, colored banners or ribbons might appear.

  • Green banners and ribbons report success.
  • Orange banners and ribbons give information or warnings.
  • Pink banners and ribbons tell of items that need attention.

Once a project is registered, we recommend that you migrate the project.
How do I migrate a project to Paratext 8?
Why should I migrate my project to Paratext 8?

:checkicon: Tips:

  • A shared project must be registered before it can be migrated to Paratext 8.
  • A non-shared project does not have to be registered before it is migrated to Paratext 8.
  • You can register a project without migrating it. However, you must migrate a project created in an earlier version of Paratext in order to open or Send/Receive the project in Paratext 8.0
  • You can migrate non-shared projects, and register them later, or not register them at all.
  • Guest users cannot register projects. (See [What is a guest user?](http://support.paratext.org/t/what-is-a-guest-user/1223)).
