I recently had someone help me associate Paratext with FLEx and then I realized that the word parses in the interlineazer for my project in Paratext are no longer there - only the guesses that Paratext makes. For example, parses for prefixes are based on the model text and parses for word stems are based on the glosses I already approved. Any ideas how to get the word parses back?

Hi @sonya_paoli,

It’s good to hear from you! Hope all is well in PNG!

Unfortunately, this is an issue with the FLEx - Paratext integration. When you associate a Paratext project with a FLEx project, any existing word parses that you approved in Paratext are hidden. This is because FLEx doesn’t know about the Paratext interlinearizer file(s), so it just starts with nothing.

The approved word parses in the interlinearizer are still in the Paratext files (so they’re not lost), but not while you have the FLEx project associated with your Paratext project.

Here are the steps to see your word parses again:

  1. Go to Project settings > Project properties > Associations tab
  2. Click the Choose button for Associated Lexical Project
  3. Select None
  4. Click OK
  5. Click OK
  6. Close and reopen Paratext

Unfortunately, this removes the ability to look up a word in FLEx from within Paratext.

A workaround is to enable the FLEx association when you are working in normal translation mode, and disable it when you want to use the Interlinearizer. It’s not a great solution, but it’s about the best we can do.

More information about this issue is here: How does the Paratext Interlinearizer and Flex parser work together.
