For a project in which we have been working in Paratext 8, can one person work in Paratext 9?

Also, you should be aware that we are no longer supporting Paratext 8 so upgrading to Paratext 9 is strongly encouraged. Any problems or incompatibilities found in PT8 are now the responsibility of the user. We will not fix any bugs found in PT8 anymore.

Generally, yes. Paratext 8 and 9 use the same project files and are compatible with one another. I used Paratext 9 for some time before upgrading the rest of the team to 9. There were some early versions of PT8 which are less compatible with PT9, so I would make sure that the PT8 users are upgraded to the latest version of 8. You can see the version being used by each member of the project by going to Project Menu> Recent Changes.

If it is a question of the team editing text, writing notes, and working with the wordlist or other tools then some members can be in 8 and others in 9. A couple places where working with 8 and 9 can be problematic are Paratext Live (everyone on the team should use the same version) and the Interlinear tool (Paratext 9.2 handles the interlinear differently).
