Working with multiple versifications

One of our consultant wrote to me about a couple of issues he’s facing while working with the Parallel Passage Tool.

One of the consistent problem that we are facing as a team is that many times parallel passages are not linked properly and hence not visible at the right place. This is is very acute in places where original verse no and translation verse no. differs. For example, in Hebrew, psalms title is counted as verse1, whereas in English translations and hence in Indian translations also, there is a difference of one or 2 numbers of the same verse. So when we work on some verse which has parallel passage will not be shown at the right place, ie according to the English numbering system. This is not a request for feature addition, but a problem to be rectified.

The next request is a feature addition cum problem rectification- again based on the same root issue. When you search for some Hebrew word, a list is generated and the same can be copied into a consultant note for people to refer and work on modifying rendering in multiple places. But when it is copied into a note, the auto reference (hyperlink) works on the basis of English numbering system. So hyperlink takes you to the wrong verse. So either the list generated should have an additional column(may be in parenthesis) for the English numbering system and then disable hyperlink to Hebrew numbering system and enable hyperlink feature only with English numbering system. If needed for some reason, hyperlink can be kept for both columns of numbering

Thank you for drawing our attention to this issue. It would be very helpful if you could send a problem report from Paratext for this, it will help the developers see whether it’s a problem with Paratext or a project configuration issue.

To do this, go to Main menu > Help > Give feedback and from the second menu in the Give feedback tool, choose Report a problem with Paratext. You should report a problem at a time when you’re in a project where you are experiencing the problem. Please do tick “Automatically include screenshots of Paratext windows” if you’re happy to do that.
