I’m in the process of setting up Paratext for local translators and wanted to give them access to the Translator’s Notes of Genesis. These do exist in the Translator’s Workplace in Logos, but Paratext tells me for TNN and TND ‘Book does not exist in project.’

Are the Translator’s Notes of Genesis (and apparently also a number of NT books) just not available for Paratext yet? (I assume I have the newest versions of TNN and TND as otherwise the Download/Install Resources dialog would let me know if there was an update.)

Does anyone have any further info about this?

Thanks,

This came from one of the TN developers:

I can at least partially answer your question: there were some copyright issues with various TNs, and that’s why some are on TW Logos but not yet in Paratext as resources. Those issues are being resolved, but there is a lag time getting caught up.

In the meantime, there is another solution. The TN team is in the process of putting all completed TNs and TN drafts in two Paratext projects: TNND (Translator’s Notes Notes Development) and TNDD (Translator’s Notes Display Development). The TN of Genesis 1-25 is in these two projects. I am one of the administrators of these two projects, and I would be delighted to give anyone access to these two projects. We are especially looking for folks who would be willing to use the Paratext “add note” feature to give us feedback, but MTTs are also welcome as observers. All I need is the Paratext name and I will gladly add anyone who wants to be added. Please pass the word around.

I do not know any details about when TND and TNN for Genesis will be available in Paratext. What I do know is that porting TW documents into Paratext, formatting them correctly, and getting them to pass all of the DBL checks are not trivial steps. Next week when more people are back from the holidays, I will inquire about the Genesis translator’s notes.

Thank you very much for these explanations! I’m going to write [Email Removed] about it.
