To a Standard Translation project (KVGKu) I – as the administrator – added a Back Translation Project (KVGBT) which is based on the former. The Registration field of the back translation in Project and Settings says: Registered. This type of project inherits the registration of its base project. (So far so good.)

Now I would have expected that if I do Send/Receive, the Back Translation Project would also be sent along or be listed as a project, but neither does seem to be the case, and on a translator’s computer on which I have done Send/Receive, the base translation is readily accessible but the back translation is nowhere to be found.

(A similar issue had been reported by Steve White in 2018-03-14, but there the problem was that the back translation was based on a resource rather than on a translation project, which is not the case here.)

On my personal computer I also set up the Interlinearizer for my translation project, which doesn’t appear on another computer either. (I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it: When I set up the Project Interlinearizer I defined the back translation as a model text. Should this be different?)

What do I need to do to be able to do Send/Receive including the back translation and interlinear text?

Thanks for any help

PS: In case this matters: On my own computer I’m running Paratext 8.0.100.83 or 9.0.63.5 (in Windows 10 Pro) and the translator’s computer has 8.0.0.10292-Linux package [paratext-8.0, 1.47]
PPS: I originally sent this message by email to [Email Removed], but it seems this no longer works.

Registration isn’t the same as Send/Receive, though it is required before you can Send/Receive through the internet.

You need to set up Users, Roles and Permissions for the Back Translation Project.

It has separate users. When you set that up then you can Send/Receive it as a completely separate project. Anyone who is a user on both can send/receive one or the other or both by ticking the relevant boxes in the Send/Receive dialog box.

Yes, you need to add users to the Back Translation project, and you need to do a send and receive of the project to get it on the server. To clarify we have two servers. One is for the registry that has a listing of all projects and metadata about them. The other is the Send/Receive server and it is only invoked when you either set-up users-roles-and-permissions, or do a S/R. There are projects that are never shared through the S/R system so setting up sharing is not part of the registration process. Maybe this short explanation helps you understand the system and why there are two independent servers.

Thank you rowbory, anon044949, and Andy (off-list)
That was very helpful! I wasn’t aware that I needed to define Users, Roles and Permissions of the back translation project before I could even do Send/Receive.
Everything works now as it should and the interlinearized text is now available on another translator’s computer too.
Thanks again,

I've tried send/receive a few times with a test project that I'm sure has minimal if any actual changes to synchronize ... synchronize, which I often have to do as a project admin.
