Trying to convert a project in order to chnage the short name, I got this error:

What might be the problem? Is it the ¦ character in the path?

I would say that it is most likely the problem since it looks like it got replaced with \xc2\xa6 in the first part of the error message. Do other Mercurial-related things work (e.g. S/R, Marking a point in project history)?

Yes, they do work.

I’ve had this path name for over a month now, and I S/R pretty regularly; for the second, I set a point in the History, and S/Red it with no problems.

That’s interesting. Did removing that character fix it?
