Greetings,
I have a user that started training on PT8 yesterday. Today it will not open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but it made no difference. I have uninstalled and deleted the folder under the appdata\local\paratext80 folder then reinstalled and it still will not open.

When I start PT8 we are prompted to select what language, and will pick English. A progress bar will come up shortly and then nothing more happens as projects appear to be loading.

The computer is running Windows 10 Home 1803.

This may not fix your issue, but it is something to be aware of. When you first load PT8, after entering your registration information, PT will attempt to send/receive every project that you have permissions on. If you have a slow connection or many projects, this could take a long time or even cause you problems. If you click anything else, that send/receive progress bar will often become hidden, so it will appear that nothing is happening, but you can Alt+Tab to see the progress bar again. It is worth checking to see if something like that is happening.

Where we work, we often prefer to cancel this initial send/receive, have the program load up, and then send/receive the projects one at a time.

I am doing an offline install. There is not an internet connection available. I have not had a problem of this sorry with any other computer.

Thanks for your reply…

Have you tried holding down the shift key when you click on the icon to open it?

Sorry that was the very first thing I did. Made no difference.

If you go to:
C:\Users{userName}\AppData\Local\Paratext80

there will be a file called ParatextLog.log

Email this file to [Email Removed]. It will give us a better idea about what is going wrong.
