Hiding Assignments & progress icon?

Question

Is there any way to hide the Assignments & Progress icon in a given project? It’s somewhat in the way if one’s not using this function…

The only way to “hide” the Assignments and Progress icon is to either remove the plan completely or remove the book(s) from the plan. This affects everyone on the project so it should be done carefully. I believe that the Assignments and Progress tool can be very useful if used correctly so I would be very hesitant to remove it.

To remove books from the plan you must go to Project > Project Properties and Settings > Books tab. This tab is used to indicate which books should be included in the Assignments and Progress. If you have a plan you must have at least one book selected here.

Thank you. In this case, it is a project in its final stages. Indeed, using Assignments & Progress can be very useful, but for projects that are largely finished, it may not be worth the trouble.

One simple way in which Assignments and Progress can be very useful for projects in the “final stages” is that it will show any Checking issues in the current book with just a click on the icon. If you are in the last stage then in theory all of the Checks should be finished, but if someone accidentally introduces one of the consistency errors it will be displayed when you open the Assignments. You could do the same by going to Checking > Run Basic Checks (or use the short cut) but the icon displays these quickly and it separates the issues.

Perhaps the problem (admittedly, a tiny problem) is not the icon as such, but the fact that it is on top of the text. It tends to cover the last character(s) of the first line of text. It would be good if the text would wrap around it, or if the icon would be in the title bar of the window.
