Starting Feb 22, three users in PNG have reported to me that one of the project windows in Paratext occasionally goes blank and locks up. All other project windows remain functional. In most cases the project window that goes blank is the one with the vernacular project in which they are editing. One user reported that the resource HBKENG went blank and froze up. The only similarity I can see between these three is poor internet access. Two are normally disconnected from the internet, the other has slow a slow, intermittent satellite connection.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Another idea, in case @anon291708 suggestion doesn’t help.

When PT is locked up, get the user (with the least poor internet connection) to run:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Paratext 8\ParatextForceShutdown.exe

This will cause PT to close (If its already hung, this isn’t any worse) and send a problem report describing what PT is currently doing.

Please don’t run ParatextForceShutdown.exe unless Paratext has actually hung.

Only one project window gets locked up. The rest of the windows and tools keep working as normal.

Could you have the users try to switch off Tools > Options > Enable Hardware Acceleration and see if that helps?

I suggested it. One has tried it, but it didn’t help.

Oh OK - Have you sent in a normal problem report then?

I have asked one of the translators who has been experiencing the problem to submit a problem report.
