The source project is Devanagari script and the target project is Tibetan script. The Devanagari uses spaces and multiple types of punctuation and the Tibetan uses only the full stop and only has a space after the full stop, not between words.

  1. I found that you can click on the space “symbol” within the source text line and remove it, but if we remove all the spaces in the verse, then when we approve and export the text, the text is never written to the target project. If we leave the spaces in place, then when we approve and export the text, the text is written to the target project as expected.

  2. I found that if we click on the punctuation within the target text line, it opens a edit box and we can delete/change it. Is there a way to specify a characters that should not be transliterated. It would be great to include spaces and most of the punctuation.

  3. So far it doesn’t “seem” to be learning from the deletions of the punctuation or spaces. We only did minimal testing with removing the spaces since it caused problems. Should it learn about the the lack if spaces and punctuation?

Thanks

I believe the following may help:

  • In Language Settings>Other Characters>Word break characters put something other than a space, say u+00B7 middle dot: ·
  • In your conversion change the spaces between words to the word break character you specified: ·

When you open the converted project in Standard View you·will·see·the·dots, but when you change it to Preview allthedotswilldisappear. There will be no apparent spaces between the words. I’m guessing that the word break characters are converted to Zero Width Spaces.
(Note: the field in Language Settings says Word break characters but really you only need one, and it disappears in typesettings and in Preview mode.)
