Biblical Terms for a back translation

Question

I have run into a couple of problems when trying to use Biblical Terms in a back translation to make it more consistent.

For example I have in my back translation ‘sip (=sheep)’, but when I put this into the Biblical Terms rendering only ‘sip’ is highlighted in the text (and checked for consistency), because the part in parentheses is treated as a comment and ignored.

Another problem are phrases that contain slashes. A certain word in the vernacular can refer to either a clan or a tribe. So I have ‘clan/tribe’ in the back translation. However, the Biblical Terms tool does not accept that because slashes are used to ignore word order.

I have tried to overcome this by using wildcards, but haven't been successful.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

For sip (=sheep) you could use sip {=sheep}

For clan/tribe you could use clan|tribe

I have been thinking of something like that too.
Unfortunately this would remove all the check marks in the those verses of the back translation. I would need to make sure that the back translation of all affected chapters is up to date, then do these general changes, and after that do ‘Mark all Verses in Chapter as Finished.’

It would be great if there was a way to escape those characters in the Biblical Terms rendering pane.

I'm a bit reluctant to change all my back translation but I have now found a workaround that works fairly well for me.

For ‘sip (=sheep)’ I have now in the Biblical Term Renderings
    sip
    sheep
on two different lines. This will then highlight both ‘sip’ and ‘sheep’ in the back translation.

And for ‘clan/tribe’ I have now in the Biblical Term Renderings
    clan
    tribe
on two different lines. This will then highlight both ‘clan’ and ‘tribe’ in the back translation.
