Can I modify an existing interlinear that not configured to output to a back translation to start outputting to an existing back translation(upon approval or a selected range of verses)?  I don't seem to be able change the interlinear settings make this change.

Yes, you can modify the settings of an interlinear, but you may need to delete the existing settings. Here is a quick video to show the process.
