Phrasal Verb Issues

Question

In the source language, I have a phrasal verb wasa mana 'tend to/care for'. This is essentially a verb 'watch' and a universal preposition 'in/on/at/for/with/by...' which may or may not have an object. In my source lexicon, I have an entry for wasa (verb) 'watch/tend', ma (prep short form) 'UPS', -na (& entries for other prepositional objects) '3s.O3', and also for wasa mana (noun phrase) 'he/she/it tends to him/her/it', which is also defined as a PHRASAL VERB:

But, often when I am parsing the text, I am parsing each word, as in the following example from Luke 20:28:

In the first two examples, there is an intervening word between wasa and ma. These transfer fine in the drafting module. But in the third instance, the wasa fails to synthesize, while the mana sythesizes just fine. What is going on here?

I don't know why this is the case, but in the target FLEx database, when I remove the two components of the verb phrase 'wasa mana' then the synthesis is good:

Alas, this doesn't work either. In Acts 22:20, ngawasa mana gets grouped as a PHRASAL VERB verb phrase (even though my interlinearized text has it as two separate words) and outputs wasa mana without the subject prefix:

In the sense linker, where the words are listed sequentially from the text, I note that when the instance that has been interlinearised as two words is reached, it is listing wasa mana as a vph. This is something that we will need to look at further. We will get back to you about this.

The reason why wasa mana is not synthesizing is because of a bug in FLExTrans. FLExTrans is not retaining the subject agreement affix on the phrasal verb. This will be fixed in the next version. In the meantime, removing one of the components of the phrasal verb entry, or changing the complex form type to something else will be the best workaround.
