I'm wondering whether there is any mechanism which might copy not only markers from one project but also ellipses. We see several projects with the SFM markers for the chapters and verses with a few verses that contain an ellipsis and nothing else.

It's not a great problem for us, we can filter them out as part of our process, but it would be good to know that we're not removing something that will be missed.

Hola.

Maybe, are you confusing the meaning of the ellipses? They will appear when you create a past book in another project or resource and appear only after a paragraph containing text from the previous verse.
For example in the following image notice that verse 6 continues in the next paragraph, only in those cases, so that the translator notices that in the original project the verse still continued, Paratext will include the ellipses (...) between the markers “p” and “v 7”.

In other words, the paragraph does not start directly with verse 7 but continues the text of verse 6.

In contrast, in the following image there are no ellipses between the marker “p” and “v 12” because no text is expected there, but verse 12 starts immediately in that new paragraph:

Eventually, the translator will have to remove the ellipses to place text.

Pepe.

Thank you Pepe!
I think that's exactly what I was trying to understand.  So, this happens when one book is created based on another project or resource and a verse continues in a new paragraph.

The thing that I was finding confusing was that the source book doesn't contain the ellipsis. As you say Paratext must be adding those to indicate that text of the previous verse is expected in the paragraph.
Your welcome.
And yes. Precisely, since the original text is not copied, Paratext adds the ellipsis only to note the continuation of the verse.

Saludos.
