Is there a common meaning for ellipsis in Paratext projects? Are there different uses in different projects.

Question

In the NLP team we've seen several Paratext projects in which there are empty verses with only an ellipsis. These occasionally occur in a verse even though the chapter is otherwise empty.

In plain text it looks like this.

\v 1 

\v2 ...

\v3 

If you know any projects that use ellipses would you let me know what they represent?
Can you think of a mechnism that would add an ellipsis in empty verses?

The elipsis is often used in footnotes to indicate that there is text that has been left out.

The elipsis is often used ... text is left out.
