I'm working remotely with three translators, and we always prefer to use Paratext Live if possible. But we often run into problems when the third or fourth user joins the session, and Paratext freezes completely during synchronization. Is this common?
From what I've read elsewhere, synchronization takes longer if one hasn't done two rounds of Send/Receive. And this certainly is the case when two or three of us have already started working, and then another person joins after 15 minutes. But taking longer is one thing, and freezing entirely with no apparent progress for several minutes another. Is it normal that Paratext shows as "not responding" during this time? And how long does it usually take to synchronize changes made to one single chapter? (Everyone is instructed to do Send/Receive before trying to join.)
I know that the team's network isn't always great, but it usually works just fine for talking via Skype or doing remote control. And I (having the most stable network) am always the session host. And at any rate, it seems like the trigger is almost always a new person joining the session, and not any particular network issue.
We've often ended up forcing Paratext to shut down in the middle of a Live Session. And then it usually doesn't go much better if we try to open a new session immediately after.
Are there any tricks to make Paratext Live more robust to network issues and people joining mid-session?
We started using Paratext Live just after upgrading to Paratext 9, and we have experienced these problems on all the different 9.x-versions.
