Hello, I am running the latest version of Paratext in Parallels on my Mac. I recently made an autocorrect file for my Paratext project to convert 'c' to 'ɔ' etc for the African language I am working with. The problem is that even in the project notes, it makes these substitutions. Adjusting the settings in the keyboard menu in Project Settings doesn't make a difference. Any ideas how to fix this?

Any time you are typing in the language of the project it will apply the autocorrect. Generally when making keyboards or an autocorrect.txt file I try to build it so that characters that are needed are not completely lost. One option would be to change your combination to create the 'ɔ'. For example, instead of always changing c to 'ɔ'  you could make c[ become 'ɔ'. This leaves the c to be accessed when needed. Or you could add something like the following:

c-->ɔ
ɔ[-->c

So pressing the [ (or some other useful character) immediately after the ɔ, changes it back to c.

Thanks for your suggestion. I just wish there was a way to indicate in Paratext that the language of the notes should be in English and not Manya, and for the keyboard to switch automatically. When I am typing in Manya I don't need characters like x, q, r, and c, so I would rather assign those keys to frequently used letters in Manya.
Hello.
In that case what you are looking for is a special keyboard for the language, and this can be done with Keyman. You can search if there is a keyboard for your language on keyman.com, or get help to build one using Keyman Developer.
Having this you will be able to use the Paratext keyboard configuration and have, for example, your keyboard created in Keyman work for the text and your English keyboard for notes.

If your need is to change few characters I am of the same opinion as Phil, that Autocorrect.txt would be enough just by better adjusting the combination.

In the case of Autocorrect.txt, it is good to note that this is not its function, so it will not satisfy this request. The purpose of Autocorrect.txt is to apply to all places in the project. This is useful, for example, when the team wants to use long dashes or leading quotation marks, which cannot be achieved directly with a physical keyboard.

Pepe.
