What does marking a project 'Inactive' in the registry do?

I was asked about the Inactive Status in the Paratext registry. What does it do?

Is it more of a statistics marker or can it be used to somehow mark a project as dormant and stop s/r?

The Inactive status is used for “Progress” information in the registry. By default the progress only shows in the registry for “Active” projects. It does not impact the ability to S/R a project.
