I’m using Paratext 9.1. According to the help, I can create a new book by clicking the project hamburger menu icon, then “Manage books”, then “Create books”.

Under the “Manage books” submenu, there is only one menu item, which is “Show book(s)…”. There are no other menu items (even after expanding the menu). I can’t find a menu item labelled “Create books”.

My user is an administrator of the project. In Project Properties, under the “Books” tab, many books have been selected, including ones that haven’t been corrected yet.

I found the answer. I needed to add a canon to the project first. To add a canon, click on the project menu button, expand it, click “Project settings”, then “Project canons…”, and add a cannon in the dialog that appears.

After that, it is possible to create books by clicking the project menu, expanding it, clicking “Manage books”, then “Create book(s)…”.

This may have been a bug in version 9.1. In the updated versions of Paratext, it is not necessary to have a canon set in order to create books. You do need a canon set to be able to upload to the DBL.
