I’m using Paratext 9.0.100.74.

In some cross references, I would like to be able to create a cross reference in the following form (I’ve translated into English and used a final period instead of Khmer’s final punctuation):

\x + \xo 9:13 \xta This matter comes from \xt Ho 6:6. \xta See \xt Mi 6:6-8 \xta also.\x*

The second reference is marked as an error with the message: “Missing final punctuation: Mi 6:6-8”.

I get the same error if I add \xt* after the offending reference, as follows:

\x + \xo 9:13 \xta This matter comes from \xt Ho 6:6. \xta See \xt Mi 6:6-8\xt* \xta also.\x*

The grammar of our language makes it awkward to put “also” immediately after “see”. There is no final punctuation that would be appropriate in this spot.

In 8.0.100.90 I get the same error, with additional ones saying that the text marked with \xta is an invalid reference.

Any feedback on (1) whether my markup is actually ill-formed, and (2) whether there’s a solution? Thanks!

Please check your scripture reference settings. I’m guessing that you have checked the box that says “Final punctuation must end each \xt section…” If you uncheck this box, the error should go away.
