One of my colleagues had difficulty installing Paratext 9; the program suggested contacting support with the attached log file. Thanks! Paratext_9.0.100_20200116015808.log.pdf (55.5 KB)

It looks like the download of the installer wasn’t successful:

[0A34:02E0][2020-01-16T01:58:24]e000: Error 0x80070570: Failed to extract all files from container, erf: 1:4:0

There is a MD5 file on the download site to help verify the download - I use WinMD5 to check files.

I believe the log says Windows 7. I have had a poor success rate installing PT9 on “mature” Windows 7 installations.

Since the release of PT9, only 25% of Win 7 laptops successfully accepted PT9 (for me). Even though PT8 was working at the time of installation.

On another thread, others have mentioned two things that helped them:

  1. updating VCC DLLs
  2. installing all outstanding Win 7 patches.

Neither worked for me. I did all the normal troubleshooting tasks, remove AV, do SFC, do ChkDsk, HW diagnostics, etc. Only solution I found was clean install of Win10.
